Loppy Lights
Light fascinates me,and having colour in my garden area also is a focus. Loppy lights offer the opportunity to utilize our day sun to light the night, the bowl shape of the flower reflects the light back and gives a large volume of soft light to brighten the greenest of night gardens… and as a bonus, share’s fun in your day. The added bonus of the steel stems add ability to flex and bend into your outside area.
Note: I developed a variety of looks within this idea ie. Orange poppy look, Symmetrical lines or Organic flow(as pictured)

Kete
Weaving Harkeke(Flax) is my calm place, it’s a time to sit and ‘be’, with myself, with heritage.
A journey I have travelled alongside my mentor Janice.
The 'Flat Bottom' kete is a valuable asset to life, this one is made with dyed '2 tone' fibre and woven from a central whiri(platt).
Lined(removable) and with a gift of a small taonga, they are ready to be passed on to others.

Garden Guardians I love ‘mother nature’, all she provides, and all is perfect in their own way as is my guardians… They look to the sky for their inspiration and welcome the night and the day for all its gifts Art Story No. 5
Glass Reflections The light plays thru the layered glass, and sparkles with life. As we move into a world of recycle, I look at the increasing glass in my world and wish to utilise in my world of ‘play’ that reminds me to look to our wonderous sun in many ways. |

Daisy Chain
The simplicity of a ‘daisy’. A part of childhood, of playing on the grass and picking the delicate flower that was a gift received and gift to share …a flower of aroha, looped around a wrist or maybe as a crown …

Cross-words, or crossworlds
My father was an avid ‘crossword’ completer… every day the herald provided an interlude in his life, to ponder past the day to day living. The play of words, the interconnection of meaning, the cross-over of letters that share our daily lives… fascinated him and inspired him to look beyond the trivial….
I made this sturdy platter to celebrate his complex thinking and lasting gifts to my world, not to say the least of his legacy a ‘memory book’ of guidance…

Galea
Here the small bowls, I liken to a shape of a Galea… interesting in that it can refer to natures ‘helmet/hood structure design’ which is what I focused on, and that I see the highlighted strips as strength that surround wealth of knowledge and beauty I allow to sit within…

Yes a Flat Bottom Kete today as the unpredictable weather demanded calmness within. This Orange and Black dyed harakeke partially completed at time of photo shoot… and will be completed and placed to dry, then a small token will find its way to it as the lining prepares it for good use…..

Wall Waves
Over the years I have played with waves… in many forms… and many ways. Water is integral to my being, I respect the ocean, the sea… Ripiro Beach is a place of my childhood, my family, and extended family… its where my heart retreats to when needed to find solace…

‘Korowai’ series These 2 pieces were made with the idea of standing and strength. The cloak is a symbol of being ‘held in love’ and secure in living. I used the ideas of feathers around the rim as in nature they allow environmental happenings to flow off and away, keeping the ‘being’ within safe and secure for newness that arrives….The 'Korowai' series ... stands proudly and displays their feathers with strength and bravery |

Forever Growing - ‘Heart’ series
Over the year ‘heart’ has come to me in many forms… the journey we have travelled over the last few years have been outside our norm, outside what was considered and viewed from a different angle …
This piece is acknowledging the forever growth of living in ‘heart’. Here the heart is held by our universe gently from below and watered with life from above.

Birds of Heart
The morning wakes and the birds around me are the first to welcome the rising sun with their chatter and calls.
These little friends are my forever garden walkers… sitting in wait for the perfect bit of substance, and the gathering of their families. I realise that Birds are my awareness of moving forward, accepting challenge and taking flight.

Bird of ‘bonny’ heart
So a small family arrived to share my day and calm my world. The stillness of these well rounded birds demand me to breathe… as I cup them in my hands and sigh

Marama
Ahh the moon arrives in my world, the many sides of living life are reflected in her sharing. Nightly she shimmers and reminds us of the hidden beauty of our earth we miss during the day, the shadows, the breathing and the nocturnal living… My moon has been birthed from fire in my pit and the flames licked her beautifully, and her rays of flax tantilise the world

Over the years I have created work for exhibitions, some accepted, some passed on and still the creations birthed...
This piece was a strong and dominant call to construct and be immersed within.....
'Growing Horizons'. Te Atatu refers to the dawn, energy and direction. This piece reflects the growing world on our horizon. The steel depicts our journey into infinity, where all is possible from the knowledge of who we are. The journey is shown in its fluidity, as it follows the dreams and wishes of those that gather together to move with the earth beneath their feet. The cones take position and space that speak of the energy that is growing within the environment. The city is frenetic, and forever changing, the bridge links the world of commerce and growth, the rural communities that have solidity and consistency
